Silver, gold and soft blue

Blue tones are not my favourites but when a soft blue is combined with cream, silver or gold I tend to find it pleasant and calming.

Early morning work

A cup of coffee, a cigarette and a camera are my most important tools for a good early morning creative session! Saved these beautiful pine cones from the Xmas Holiday decor and I’ve been waiting for them to dry up so that I could go to work. This morning my award came. I think I’ve said it before – we look for similar patterns when we create. Different colors, indoors versus outdoors, man made against nature and still some kind of connection.
New pinboard

Browsing through stuff in my Mom’s studio, I found my old pinboard, you know that kind with cork and a very ugly wooden frame. Well, my studio was in need of a new pinboard and since I’m brought up to believe that 2 old things can become 1 new, I brought it home and stripped it from the all dried up frame and got to work.
”Hm, what fabric was I going to use?”
”Didn’t I have some brass pins left from a previous project?..”
”I need some kind of ribbons, which one is best?”
And so on.
I found myself some linen, some padding material, chose the white silky ribbon and yes, there they were – 8 brass pins! Out with the big stapler and tadaa – a new pinboard! Yep, I will hang it up (probably soon) and yep, I will try to take some nicer photos when DIY comes knocking next time…
PS. A question: How come one is very creative late in the evenings when daylight isn’t around for great photos?
Pink-ish

Soft pastels are hot and pink tones are back again, very much to my pleasure.
Pink-ish:
- Beautiful 18th century textile embroidery from China found at Bukowskis Market a while ago – sad I didn’t win that auction but happy for the person who did.
- Oly Studio Diego bench from Zinc Door. Soft, elegant and very feminine – maybe as a showstopper in a large dressing room.
- Pink glass hearts to decorate the table with on Valentine’s from Crate & Barrel.
- A fragment of decoration illustrated in 1925 and found at NYPL.
- An antique Kazak rug from Horne.
- Currey & Co Sultana table lamp found at Zinc Door.
- Damask cushion and Abelard cushion from Zara Home’s Spring 2012 collection.
- A lovely Sakura bowl from Artel found at ArteDona.
When Ice arrived

I was a bit frustrated by not bringing my camera on this particular walk, but I quickly decided that taking some photos with my mobile phone was better than taking none at all. And I’m so glad I did.
Elegance in the garden

It’s not time for enjoying the garden yet, especially not here in Sweden where the weather suddenly turned very cold. But one can dream and make plans and before we know it – Spring!
Some elegance for a future garden:
- Luxurious gardening tools Perseus from Terrain – for the ”Gardenista”.
- Beautiful boucle wire shop baskets from Jayson Home & Garden. I would definately use them in my garden (if I had one).
- Babylon garden vases in my kind of color tones from Dedon.
- Collection Radici table for the garden from De Castelli would probably fit great in a bold livingroom too.
- Love Shimla and Jaipur as large decorative accents for the garden, also from Italian De Castelli.
- Handwoven rattan Hirwa baskets and linen and corkwood lantern from Crate & Barrel.

Nice gift bags

Swedish store Åhlens is carrying these lovely gift bags just in time for Valentine’s. I have to make a note that ”Puss” in Swedish means kiss in English 
Oh, and ”Kram” means hug.

Learning one new thing a day

I’ve set myself on learning at least one new thing a day. Why? Well, I think it’s good to train the brain, stimulate the intellect and gain a greater focus (when needed). There are also so many things we yearn to explore and learn but leave to to ”the future”. However, future is deceiving and far more complex than we can fathom (no one has seen it!), and we really don’t know how long it will be coming. So, why not do things ”now”!
My first mission is learning to bake every cake, pastry and bread I’ve thought of. Will I succeed? Well, my first lesson came as a very pleasant surprise. I got calmer and a very nice feeling spread itself in my body when working with a couple of bread doughs. One really can’t be stressed or angry when doing this, the bread will simply not turn out well. I’m looking forward to the other ”lessons”.
What mission no 2 will be, I really don’t know, but I’m sure it will come to me.
So, I’m not aiming at great photos, food styling or new recipes since there are so many food artist out there sharing their artistry and inspiration, I’m aiming at learning and having a great deal of fun. What would you like to learn today?
