Flowers and graphic design

Svenska Designpriset is a Swedish design contest in the areas of advertising, publishing, print, corporate communications and more. The countdown has begun and the winners will be presented on October 8 at Moderna Museet in Stockholm.
What struck me concerning the finalists in the category “identity”, is that there were more than three contestants with flowers and plants as a foundation for their graphic work. I chose to show my favourites here, since I find them beautiful and truly well done – and I wish them luck in the competition!
- Restaurang Mistral’sfood and wine menues are created by Häger Fredlund. I love the elegance, the great usage of white space and the sheer yet distinct illustrations of plants, vegetables and herbs.
- Grythyttans Gästgivaregård (The Inn) is a Swedish pearl when it comes to fine dining, their identity is created by Planeta. It’s fun, romantic a bit crazy and very welcoming.
- Hallvarsson & Halvarsson’s (consultancy in corporate communications) identity profile is created by themselves along with designer Martin Behm. The flower illustrations used here all have a short (or long) story to tell.
